Renowned poet T. S. Eliot once pondered the mystery of our journeys and the fleeting nature of our existence. In his profound words, he recognized our role in a vast range of experiences. While unable to know the exact destinations or duration of our journeys, Eliot's words inspire wonder and curiosity about the enigmatic passage of time. Ramon Humet is inspired by him and we found it a captivating concept for our new album.
This album comes from a mastering of the concert that the Gerhard Quartet gave at the Juan March Foundation on June 6th, 2023. It includes the first world recording of the Quartets nos. 6 and 7 bis by Conrado del Campo (1878-1953), one of the most original and unknown Spanish composers of the first half of the 20th century. The concert is part of the so-called Conrado Project, an ambitious initiative whose objective is to program, for the first time, the entire corpus of his thirteen string quartets. The comprehensive edition of the scores, almost all unpublished, and the dissemination of the recordings in different media will complete the recovery of this repertoire so unjustly forgotten.
